The Document you will use everyday.
As new teachers are about to figure out: the days of a teacher are a whirlwind. Eating lunch is a luxury, using the restroom is last priority and remembering to take attendance is a big win for the day. I want to help educators get a handle on the every day little tasks so that we can concentrate on our lesson planning and engaging our students.
I created a document a document to use as my “HOME” page. Link every document and website you use daily so you will never have “open tab anxiety” again. I organized a table into categorical columns. Then, I link all of the daily documents I use. Click on HOMEdoc, make a copy and customize it to your liking!
Once you look at HOMEdoc, you will notice there are five more links. These are FREE for you to use as well. Here is what you will find in the rest of the links:
Lesson Plan Table
1. Link all of your handouts, Slide shows, and resources right on this page.
2. Share with your students if you would like (I use a different document for students).
3. You won’t have to write everything again for the next quarter/semester/year. It’s all in here!
4. If you need to make lesson plans at home, you have everything linked and ready to go!
5. Link G.Classroom and/or G. Sites right on the planner.
6. Copy and paste a new table ABOVE the previous week. The current week will always be on top-no scrolling.
Daily Work/Assignments document – Students will no longer ask you, “Did I miss anything?” After coming back from an absence or better yet, while they are home sick, students can access what you did for the day and any assignments that will need to be made up. I also link documents, websites, resources to view or download.
Tardy/Chromebook log – We have a policy for tardies and/or Chromebook usage. Although this is specific to my school, you can easily customize it to your liking.
Communication log – I love this Google form. Often, administrators want to see what type of communication you have with your students, parents and guardians. Use this log to keep an accurate record of communication. You can also upload to your Educator Effectiveness platform as evidence at the end of each term.
Sub Plans – This is another great template to have handy. Not only is it simple to modify. We all have unplanned absences and we usually have to modify our regular plans so that our substitute can easily teach our courses. Instead of re-writing all the information for our subs, it is always accessible in this document. Emergency plans, special notes, helpful kids and extension numbers are all ready to go.
